Lateral 9 Buried Pipeline Conversion
Replacement of 2.1 miles of open earthen lateral with 48-inch buried pipeline, recovering right-of-way and eliminating evaporation losses.
Project Overview
Open laterals in developed areas are costly to maintain and vulnerable to trash, encroachment and evaporation. This project replaces the Lateral 9 open channel with buried reinforced concrete pipe sized to carry the full design flow of the lateral.
Turnouts are rebuilt with gated risers and propeller meters so that each account receives a measured delivery. The recovered right-of-way is restored and remains under District easement for access and future maintenance.
